Playing with Your Food: Funnel Cake Love Letters for Valentine's Day

Funnel Cake Love Letters for Valentine's Day

When I was growing upward, I loved theme parks. LOVED them. Still do, actually, but non to the extent that I did when I was little. My aunt worked at Disney and she could get us in to any of the Disney parks for gratis, pretty much anytime (thanks Aunt Kim). And non to brag, But we had season passes to Wet-n-Wild water park. Try not to go jealous folks. 🙂

So, on these lilliputian theme park excursions in that location would (naturally) exist a few snacks involved. Correct? Maybe a hot canis familiaris here, a picayune cotton processed there. But the treat I always looked forwards to about, aside from a Coke ICEE, was none other than funnel block!

I'm not sure if that's because I was fulling embracing my inner (and slightly outer) fatty kid in those fleeting babyhood moments or if it was because it was something you could much only go at a theme park or a county fair. But either way, I was into information technology. Peradventure fifty-fifty loved information technology. Oh, who am I kidding? I definitely loved it.

Which brings me to today's food idea… message (and heart shaped) funnel cakes for Valentine's Day. Aye! Nosotros'cipe putting the FUN in funnel cakes today with a petty somethin' somethin' that is equal parts playful and succulent.

Ingredients for Funnel Cake Dear Letters(makes approx. x "Dear" and 10 hearts)

  • 1 box of funnel cake mix
  • 2 cups of powdered carbohydrate
  • 3 tablespoons of half and half

Directions:
ane) Create the funnel block mixture every bit described by the box. And so, add the batter into a clasp bottle (like the plastic ones yous use for ketchup).
2) Adjacent, using a medium size skillet, add roughly ane cup of vegetable oil and rut to 350 degrees.
iii) Then write out the give-and-take love in cursive so that all the messages connect (in the oil).It doesn't have long for the words to cook… nigh 1-2 minuets per side. To make open hearts, you would use the same method.

To make a closed heart follow steps one and ii, simply afterwards and then place a estrus condom cookie cutter into the oil and use a zig-zag motion to make full in the cookie cutter (again you want to make sure that it is all connected). cimove the cookie cutter and continue to melt one-2 minutes on both sides.
